CHIQUITA
My feeling of living in EU was like nomadic people. I have lived with a lot of cardboard “Banana” boxes. It was used as a container, shelf and cabinet etc... The Banana box was very useful and strong. It could be collected easily at a supermarket, and it was free!
However, some people seem to be reluctant to placing a cardboard box in the living room. So I tried to make a box which suits there.
As a living room object, I chose thin plywood and brass as materials. The plywood has been bent by a plurality of slits placed accurately by laser cutting, the smooth curved surface has given a soft impression.
Chiquita is possible to stack up from all three directions, and it can be opened from all faces. Furthermore, it can be modify the size easily.
