SHOW OFF

coat hanger, 2016

The Kyoto City University of Arts asked me to design a coat hanger for the new president room. The president Mr.Washida wanted to have his room as “unusual” as possible. He preferred very few furnitures with a big mural.

I designed the coat hanger which is used leaning against a wall. It can be located anywhere easily, and so it doesn’t appeal “Hey, I’m here!” much.

Six wooden poles have cross shaped slits, and are connected together with a joint in one place quite unique way. This was first assignment since I came back to Japan, so I showed off my identity to people here, but humbly
